What are the advantages and disadvantages of titanium plate heat exchanger?

Titanium plate heat exchanger is a plate heat exchanger made of titanium or titanium alloy. It is generally used in occasions where the temperature and pressure are not too high with seawater or chloride ion containing fluid as the medium. The advantages of titanium plate heat exchanger are as follows:

1. Light weight. The plate thickness of plate heat exchanger is only 0.4 ~ 0.8mm, while the thickness of heat exchange tube of shell and tube heat exchanger is 2.0 ~ 2.5mm. The shell of shell and tube heat exchanger is much heavier than the frame of plate heat exchanger. Generally, the weight of plate heat exchanger is only about 1 / 5 of that of shell and tube heat exchanger.

2. The price is very low. Use the same material. Under the same heat exchange area, the price of plate heat exchanger is 40% ~ 60% lower than that of shell and tube heat exchanger.

3. It is easy to manufacture. The heat transfer plate of plate heat exchanger is processed by stamping, which has a high degree of standardization and can be produced in large quantities. Shell and tube heat exchangers are generally made by hand.

4. High heat transfer coefficient. Because different corrugated plates are inverted to form complex flow channels, the fluid flows in three-dimensional rotation in the flow channels between corrugated plates, and turbulence will occur at low Reynolds number (generally re = 50 ~ 200), so the heat transfer coefficient is high, which is generally considered to be 3 ~ 5 times that of shell and tube type.

5. Large logarithmic average temperature difference and small terminal temperature difference. In the shell and tube heat exchanger, the two fluids flow on the tube side and shell side respectively, which is generally cross flow, and the logarithmic average temperature difference correction coefficient is small. The plate heat exchanger is mostly parallel or countercurrent flow, and its correction coefficient is generally about 0.95. In addition, the cold and hot fluid flow in the plate heat exchanger is parallel to the heat exchange surface without side flow. The temperature difference at the end of the plate heat exchanger is small, and the heat transfer to water can be lower than 1 ℃, while the shell and tube heat exchanger is generally 5 ℃

6. The floor area is small, the structure of plate heat exchanger is compact, and the heat exchange area per unit volume is 2 ~ 5 times that of shell and tube type. Unlike the shell and tube type, the maintenance position of the extracted tube bundle shall be reserved. Therefore, the same heat exchange can be achieved. The floor area of plate heat exchanger is about 1 / 5 ~ 1 / 10 of that of shell and tube heat exchanger. 7. The heat exchange area or process combination is easy to change. As long as several plates are added or reduced, the purpose of increasing or reducing the heat exchange area can be achieved; Changing the plate layout or replacing multiple plates can realize the required process combination, adapt to the new heat exchange conditions, and it is almost impossible to increase the heat exchange area of shell and tube heat exchanger.

8. Easy to clean. As long as the compression bolts of the frame plate heat exchanger are loosened, the plate bundle can be loosened and the plate can be removed for mechanical cleaning, which is very convenient for the heat exchange process requiring frequent cleaning of equipment.

9. Small heat loss. Only the shell plate of the heat transfer plate of the plate heat exchanger is exposed to the atmosphere, so the heat dissipation loss can be ignored and no heat insulation measures need to be taken. Shell and tube heat exchanger needs thermal insulation due to large heat loss.

The capacity is small, about 10% ~ 20% of that of shell and tube heat exchanger.

11 not easy to expand. Because there is enough turbulence inside, it is not easy to scale, and its scaling coefficient is only 1 / 3 ~ 1 / 10 of that of shell and tube heat exchanger.

Disadvantages of titanium plate heat exchanger:

1. The pressure loss per unit length is large. Because the gap between the heat transfer surface and the concave convex of the heat transfer surface is very small, the pressure loss is greater than that of the traditional smooth tube.

2. The working pressure should not be too high and the medium temperature should not be too high, otherwise leakage will occur. Plate heat exchangers are sealed with gaskets. Generally, the working pressure shall not exceed 2.5MPa, and the medium temperature shall be below 250 ℃, otherwise leakage may occur. 3. Easy to jam. Because the inter plate channel is very narrow, generally only 2 ~ 5mm, it is easy to block the inter plate channel when the heat exchange medium contains large particles or fibrous substances.
